President Ilham Aliyev has familiarized himself with the design of exhibitions in the new building of the Azerbaijani Carpet and People’s Applied Arts State Museum.
The head of state was informed that the main purpose of the Carpet Museum is to organize exhibitions, prepare educational programmes, protect non-tangible cultural heritage, develop international relations, prepare and implement joint projects, etc.
The Azerbaijani President familiarized himself with the conditions created in the building.
It was noted that the museum currently stores a collection of more than 15,000 rare exhibits. Carpets with pile form the golden fund of the museum. Together with all compositions, they represent the seven main carpet-weaving schools of Azerbaijan. Apart from that, the museum also keeps carpets without pile, jewels and metal items, artistic embroidery, fabrics, national clothes and others.
The concept of the museum’s exhibition is different from ordinary exhibitions. The main carpet exhibits are hung from arched walls and their reflection can be seen from all the top floors. Thanks to this, most of the exhibition can be watched from all angles.
The five-storey building has working rooms, an automated storeroom, restoration workshops, a gift shop, a department working with visitors, an exhibition area, a 120-seat café, halls for presentations and discussions, an interactive information system, an auditorium for video and audio presentations, etc.
