President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the new Ganja circular road.
First the head of state reviewed the stands describing the Yevlakh-Ganja highway and the Ganja circular road, as well as the Agstafa-Poylu-Georgian state border highway.

The past 10 years have seen drastic changes in the road transport infrastructure of the country. Important projects aimed at improving the transport system and organizing passenger traffic at the international level have been implemented. The highways of international importance passing through the country are being overhauled to modern standards. According to the orders and instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, the focus today is on the renovation of central highways, while in the regions preference is given to the roads connecting villages and settlements. This process has gained momentum in Ganja. The new Ganja circular road will make an important contribution to the development of the region, including the free flow of traffic.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President that four bridges, three road junctions of different levels and nine bus stops had been installed on the road. There are plans to widen the road by constructing two additional lanes.

The head of state was also informed that the 370-km road has pedestrian crossings, cattle passes and gutters. The key function of the new circular road, which is one of the many important projects implemented in the regions according to the orders and instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, is that vehicles, especially trucks, will move to the north of the country without entering Ganja.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev was shown the plan of the Agstafa-Poylu-Georgian state border highway.

It was noted that the length of the road, which is part of the Baku-Alat-Gazakh-Georgian state border highway, was 59 kilometers. The construction of the road has been carried out using domestic investment. It began in October 2011 and was completed at the end of last year.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road.
