Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials of the newly-appointed ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Khalid Usman Qaiser.

Ambassador Khalid Usman Qaiser reviewed the guard of honor.

Khalid Usman Qaiser presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then President Ilham Aliyev had a discussion with the Ambassador.

Noting that friendly and fraternal relations between our countries and peoples were at a high level, the President expressed his confidence that they would become even stronger during the diplomatic activity of the new Ambassador to Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the successful development of political relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. Expressing his hope for an expansion of relations in economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the importance of that in terms of regional cooperation. The President praised the mutual support of the two countries within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations.

Ambassador Khalid Usman Qaiser conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to President Ilham Aliyev. The diplomat said he would spare no effort to further strengthen the Azerbaijani-Pakistani ties the foundation of which was laid by the internationally renowned politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev. The Ambassador gratefully pointed to the importance of humanitarian projects being implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in his country. Khalid Usman Qaiser said Pakistan would always support Azerbaijan's fair position in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The sides also exchanged views on the development of relations between the two countries in the fields of industrial, military and technical cooperation, defense, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, mutual investment and other areas.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and asked the Ambassador to communicate his greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
