President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the Azerbaijan factory for the production of paper and cardboard created within the "Azersun Industrial Estate" in Sumgayit.

One of the major achievements of the large-scale economic policy carried out in Azerbaijan is the development of various industries. From this point of view it is no coincidence that the oil revenues have been channelled into the creation of new industrial enterprises in recent years. This area has already seen consistent implementation of very important projects.

The creation and commissioning of modern production sites in accordance with the instructions and orders of the head of state serve to strengthen the national economy. This opens up extensive opportunities for the production of competitive and quality products in the country.

The establishment of the Azerbaijan factory for the production of paper and cardboard within the "Azersun Industrial Estate" in Sumgayit is expected to further accelerate the development of this industry. The enterprise has been built using a soft loan provided by the National Fund on Entrepreneurship Support under the Ministry of Economic Development and the funds of "Azersun Holding" LLC.

In the lobby of the factory there is a photo stand describing the participation of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev in the opening ceremonies of various enterprises of "Azersun Holding" LLC.

Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev informed the President about the structure of the plant. It was noted that the plant uses state-of-the-art technologies.

President Ilham Aliyev put the factory into operation.

The production process at the factory is fully automated. The establishment of the factory required major investment. It is the only such enterprise in the Caucasus. The company consists of the production building, various divisions and a warehouse of finished goods. It is fitted with modern equipment from renowned companies representing leading countries of the world. The equipment available here can enable production of high-quality and competitive products. In general, the production process at the factory is based on international standards and practices. The processing capacity of the factory is 50,000 tons per year. The implementation of this project in Sumgayit is essential for the socioeconomic development of the city and employment. The factory employs a total of 150 people.

It was indicated that by providing secondary use of waste paper, the enterprise also plays an important role in the prevention of environmental pollution. It is estimated that as a result of operation of the factory the felling of 850,000 conifers will be prevented, the destruction of forests and the emission of a substantial quantity of hazardous substances will be prevented. Ninety per cent of the company's needs for raw materials will be met by the procurement of paper waste. With this purpose procurement centers will be established in the regions. The implementation of this project will facilitate creation of new jobs in the regions. This industry will provide employment to about 1,000 people. "Azersun Holding" LLC also operates a cardboard factory in Khirdalan.

The head of state reviewed the products manufactured by the factory, as well as the products to be produced in the future.

The "Azersun Industrial Estate" is also expected to operate a logistical center, enterprises for the production of plastic and special cardboard products.
