Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey held a meeting in an expanded format

After the one-on-one meeting, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting in an expanded format with the participation of delegations.

President Ilham Aliyev said:

- Dear Mr. President, my dear brother!

I would like to welcome you to Azerbaijan once again. Welcome to Azerbaijan! I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the great victory in the presidential election again. This victory has proved yet again that the work you have done in recent years is highly appreciated by the Turkish people.

We are very pleased that just a few days after the inauguration you are paying an official visit to Azerbaijan. This demonstrates again that Turkish-Azerbaijani relations are friendly and fraternal, and that these relations are at the highest stage.

During our one-on-one meeting today, we discussed various aspects of our relations. We have held an exchange of views on bilateral and international issues. Once again we note that our unity is strengthening with each passing day.

Our views coincide on all issues, and we have one goal: the successful development of the Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship and fraternal ties. I am sure that this visit will be an important step in this direction.

Once again, welcome!

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said:

- My dear brother and distinguished members of the delegation!

On my own behalf and on behalf of my delegation I would like to greet you during my first official visit after the elections held on 10 August.

As you have noted, these mutual visits have become traditional. They also show how strong our love for each other is.
During our one-on-one meeting today we had the opportunity to thoroughly discuss Turkish-Azerbaijani relations.

We have had a discussion on all areas and are willing to continue it together with the members of our delegations. Of course, Turkish-Azerbaijani relations should develop even more rapidly in the future. The problems that are currently available in our region must be addressed collectively. The solution to these problems – the Turkish-Armenian problems and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict – are interrelated issues. If the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is resolved, the problem between Turkey and Armenia will also be resolved. But if the conflict remains unresolved, the situation between Turkey and Armenia will not change. We have always said this and I say this again for everyone to know. Solidarity in these matters will be continued with the same determination in the future. I want everyone to know that too. Thank you.
