Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of Goranboy-Yukhari Aghjakand highway

President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva have attended the opening of Goranboy-Yukhari Aghjakand highway.

In accordance with the instructions of the head of state, important measures are being taken in the regions to modernize the road-transport infrastructure.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the official inauguration of the highway.

The road was constructed under the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 30 July 2013. Some AZN 3 million and AZN 7.2 million were allocated from the President's Contingency Fund to Goranboy District Executive Authority for the construction of the facility in 2013 and 2014 respectively. It links 18 residential areas with the population of 35,000 people.

The construction of a 24-km section of the highway has already been completed. Under the project, 15 aqueducts were built, and four reconstructed along the road. Nearly 550 signal mounts were installed along the facility. This third technical degree highway ensures comfortable movement of people and vehicles and improvement of communication between villages.
