Official welcome ceremony was held for Ilham Aliyev at the residence of Latvian President – the “Riga” Castle.
A guard of honor was lined up in honor of the Azerbaijani President in front of the castle, decorated with the state flags of the two countries.
President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers and his spouse Lilita Zatlers welcomed President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva.
A military orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Latvia.
The Brigade Commander of the guard of honor reported to President Ilham Aliyev.
The Presidents passed along the guard of honor.
State and governmental officials of Latvia were introduced to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, while the members of the Azerbaijani delegation to Latvian President Valdis Zatlers.
The Presidents and their spouses had their photos taken.
President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva signed an honorary guest book at the “State Emblem” Hallo of the “Riga” Castle.
Then, presents were exchanged.
