Ilham Aliyev attended a ceremony marking the Centennial of Canakkale Victory

A solemn ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of Canakkale Victory has started in Turkey.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is attending the event. A guard of honor was arranged at the Canakkale Martyrs´ Memorial square decorated with the national flags of participating countries.

Wreathes were laid at the memorial. A moment of silence was observed for the Canakkale martyrs and founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The national anthem of Turkey was performed.

Verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were said for the martyrs.

Then, Prince of Wales Charles and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the ceremony.

The event is attended by presidents of 21 countries, as well as high-ranking officials from more than 70 countries.
