President Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of a newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain, Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado.

The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.

Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, the Azerbaijani President held a conversation with the Ambassador.

Having noted that Azerbaijan attached great importance to bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Spain, President Ilham Aliyev said he hoped relations would be successful during the diplomatic tenure of Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado. The president stressed the necessity of defining new cooperation areas to develop bilateral ties. President Ilham Aliyev also underlined the importance of Spain-Azerbaijan relations in terms of strengthening the latter`s cooperation with the European Union. The head of state wished success to the diplomat in his future endeavors.

Ambassador Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado, in turn, noted that the bilateral relations between the two states, including the economic and political ties carry a huge importance. Underscoring the importance of Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Spain, Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado also expressed hope that Spain`s diplomatic representation with residence in Azerbaijan would start operating soon.

The Spanish diplomat also assured that he would spare no efforts for further development of bilateral ties.
