Ilham Aliyev checked out the construction works, carried out in Arkivan district

President ilham Aliyev checked out the construction works, carried out in Arkivan district of the Masalli-Astara section of Alat-Astara-Iran state border highway.

The President viewed a photo stand, featuring the plan of Alat-Astara highway.

Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov told President Ilham Aliyev that the overall length and width of this section of the primary road, which will pass through Masalli and Astara, is 22 kilometers and 27.5 meters respectively. The width of the main lane of the four-way highway will be 5 meters. Construction of six bridges, four road junctions and 133 water pipes is projected for this part of the road. A lighting system will be installed and all the conditions will be created for unobstructed movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the road, fully conforming to international standards.

The President was given information that utilization of the old highway, connecting Masalli and Astara, would continue, even after the new road will be put into use. A new road passage will be built on the crossroads of the old and new roads.

Utilization of this highway will ease the movement for residents of not only Masalli and Astara, but also Yardimli, Lankaran, Bilasuvar and other surrounding regions.

It was added that the highway will bypass the regional centers. This will provide for easy and unrestricted movement of vehicles.

Later on, President Ilham Aliyev viewed a photo stand, featuring the new bridge complex of Alat-Astara highway, the construction of which is underway over the Kura River.

The President was also informed that the length of the bridge is 370 meters and the width is 30 meters. The overall length of the connecting road of the bridge is more than a kilometer.

The President also checked out the machinery, used for construction of the road.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed content with the carried out works, and gave recommendations and instructions.
