Ilham Aliyev has visited the city of Salyan

After ending his visit to Astara District, President Ilham Aliyev visited the city of Salyan on his way back.

Salyan residents warmly welcomed the head of state.

A resident speaking on behalf of the Salyan public said:

Our dear president! We welcome you on Salyan soil! As we see the work carried out by you, the son of our great leader, we feel proud. This creative work makes our hearts palpitate with pride. Great work is being carried out in Azerbaijan. We all witness it. Unprecedented creative and renovation work begun in Salyan recently. All this is thanks to you. Every time I see you, I recall a rhyme:

"You were born with affection and love, son,
May your wonderful dreams come true, son"

May you always be successful in your way! We will have such ways in our native Karabakh.

President Ilham ALIYEV: Thank you. I sincerely welcome you. A wonderful development plan is being prepared for the city of Salyan. Recently, the head of the executive authorities informed me about it and submitted that plan to me. I liked and supported it. Additional funding will now be allocated. Salyan should turn into one of Azerbaijan's most beautiful cities.

Beautiful streets and buildings will be built here, renovation work will be carried out and the whole infrastructure will be reconstructed. Gasification, drinking water supplies, sewerage projects and social infrastructure – all this work is planned. You know that I appointed Tahir quite recently. He worked very well in Dashkasan District, distinguished himself and lived up to our expectations. When I saw him, I decided to appoint him to a bigger district and instructed him to carry out work here at the highest level. I want to say again that he recently visited me, submitted the plan and showed the pictures, and you have started work. Now I see that buildings have started to be renovated. Of course, their interior should also be beautiful and all buildings should be refurbished. At the same time, all conditions should be created for working and living. Gasification should be carried out first, because power supplies are normal. After that, drinking water, sewerage and social infrastructure projects should be carried out. A plan on redirecting the Kura River was shown to me here. I approved of it. That's to say we will be carrying out this work in a complex way. Work has started and I am sure that Salyan will soon get a new beautiful image.

President Ilham ALIYEV: You know that Salyan is a district of special importance. It is a district close to Baku. The great leader and I began our election campaigns from Salyan – in 1998 and 2003. I first started my election campaign in Salyan District. I came to this post with your blessing and I am trying to serve my own people.

RESIDENTS: May God give you a long life and health. We support you, Mr President. God willing, you will soon come and see that Salyan is flourishing.

President Ilham ALIYEV: Yes, we will definitely see this. Let's go and see what kind of work you have done!

After that, President Ilham Aliyev went on a walkabout in the city of Salyan.

The head of state inquired about the work being carried out in the city. The head of the district executive authorities, Tahir Karimov, said that the façades of all buildings in the city will be totally changed and the exterior of catering and shopping facilities along the streets will be changed according to modern architectural standards. The lighting system in central streets will be totally updated. To this end, special lighting systems and lampposts have been ordered. The fences along the streets of the city will be decorated with river stone.

Also, Tahir Karimov informed the head of state about a project to redirect the section of the Kura River passing through Salyan.

President Ilham Aliyev issued instructions to carry out all renovation and creative work in the city according to the country's general development dynamics.

President Ilham ALIYEV welcomed the residents and said:

President Ilham ALIYEV: I tested him in Dashkasan. He worked very well there. The primary issue is that he should serve people. Every official and every head of the executive authorities should be taking care of people. Along with that, he should do his job and be active.

President Ilham ALIYEV: Salyan should turn into one of Azerbaijan's most beautiful cities in two or three years.

RESIDENTS: Yes, our city will be even more beautiful thanks to you. May God give you a long life! You are continuing the work started by our genius great leader with even more success. Countless things have been done.

Tahir KARIMOV: Mr President, I am always among people. When I meet people, I tell them that the president has told me to serve the people and my duty is to implement this instruction with credit.

President Ilham ALIYEV: This is just the start of it. Great changes will happen here in a few months. These changes should have happened long ago.

President Ilham ALIYEV: Some work was carried out before. An Olympic complex was built here before. After that, the district hospital was refurbished and schools were built.

RESIDENT: Some young people are unemployed and are suffering. It would be better if there were jobs for the young.

President Ilham ALIYEV: Yes, we are dealing with this. There should be jobs as well. There is unemployment and it is now one of the most serious problems. And it will be resolved.

RESIDENT: God willing, you will also raise the pensions.

President Ilham ALIYEV: We will raise pensions. You have probably heart about it.

RESIDENT: Also, it would be good if lonely old women were given an allowance.

President Ilham ALIYEV: We will consider this issue too. That's to say all social issues have been resolved in Azerbaijan. People should be living better.
