Council of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents held 5th meeting

The 5th meeting of the Council of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents has been held following the one-on-one meeting of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko.

The meeting participants included members of the Azerbaijani and Ukrainian delegations.

President Ilham Aliyev said broad discussions were held on bilateral relations in a variety of fields. Underlining the importance of this visit in developing the bilateral ties, the head of state noted that the 5th meeting of the Council created a good opportunity for holding discussions and taking decisions.

President Ilham Aliyev said that taking into account the mutual interest there was good potential for addressing the issues to be discussed.

The head of state expressed his hope that the first visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Azerbaijan would create a good opportunity for defining the mutual activity of the two countries in a variety of areas, as well as for better familiarizing himself with Azerbaijan.

Expressing his gratitude for hospitality, President Petro Poroshenko said they were deeply impressed by what they saw in the first hours of their visit to the capital city Baku.

He said they not only saw beauty of Baku, but high spirits of the people in the capital, adding that from the first minutes members of the delegation felt themselves at home.

They exchanged views on issues of cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian areas.
