A magnificent flower festival has been arranged in the park, located in front of the Heydar Aliyev Palace, to mark the 88th anniversary of national leader of the Azerbaijani people and world-renowned politician, Heydar Aliyev.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva and the family members joined the flower festival.
The President was informed that Baku residents had been visiting the park since early morning hours to enjoy the show, organized by the Baku City Executive Power, featuring flowers brought from approximately 50 countries.
The magnificent monument of savior and founder of the contemporary Azerbaijan, genius son of the nation, Heydar Aliyev, and its pedestal were covered with flowers.
President Ilham Aliyev and the family members visited the monument of national leader and enjoyed the beauty of the park, covered in flowers.
The “carpets” and the portrait of great son of the Turkic world, Heydar Aliyev, created from different flowers, were attracting attention with its originality. The composition, illustrating the number - “88”, which was made of a collection of various flower types, was also very attractive.
Various compositions, created by different flowers, plants, and leaves, which were either imported from foreign countries or grown in Azerbaijan, were leaving great impressions on all the guests. The surroundings of the fountains and every other place of the park were covered in beautiful, spring-fresh flowers. The shuffling musical pieces were only adding to the holiday mood.
Mehriban Aliyeva and her family members were presented bouquets of white lilies. She was told that these white lilies were cultivated for the first time in the world by the Dutch-Azerbaijan Friendship Society and the Royal Association for Dutch Lily Cultivation specifically for Mehriban Aliyeva and would carry her name henceforth.
The first lady of Azerbaijan signed the certificate. A copy of certificate was presented to Mehriban Aliyeva. The other certificates were presented to the International Lilac Cultivar Registration Authority and the representatives of the Royal Association for Dutch Lily Cultivation.
The President, Mehriban Aliyeva and members of the family had their photos taken with director of the Dutch-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Marjon Van der Vegt.
President Ilham Aliyev and the members of the family viewed the flower compositions with a great interest. The photos, related to all periods of Heydar Aliyev’s life and activities, reflected in different flower compositions and original bouquets, attracted great attention.
Children, decorated as different types of flowers and adding to the beauty of the festival, greeted President Ilham Aliyev and his family members with childish sincerity.
The President and his family members conversed with the children, and posed for photos with little kids in front of a big flower-made portrait of the national leader.
