Ilham Aliyev received credentials of incoming Albanian Ambassador

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania Genti Gazheli.

Genti Gazheli reviewed a guard of honor.

Ambassador Genti Gazheli presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev then had a conversation with the Ambassador.

Hailing successful development of Azerbaijan-Albania relations, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized good political ties between the two countries. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction with the Albanian President's and Prime Minister's visits to Azerbaijan and his meetings with them, and said that these visits are of crucial importance in terms of developing bilateral cooperation. Pointing to the development of bilateral ties, President Ilham Aliyev underlined the energy cooperation as one of the main areas of these relations.

The head of state noted that relations in the energy sector will create a good opportunity for cooperation in other fields, including investment making, trade and transport. Hailing the importance of joint implementation of the significant project as Southern Gas Corridor, President Ilham Aliyev underlined SOCAR's keenness to make investment in Albania. The head of state expressed his hope that Azerbaijan and Albania, which have constantly supported each other in international organizations, will continue cooperation within these institutions. Underlining the importance of mutual support in bilateral relations, President Ilham Aliyev described Albania as a friendly country to Azerbaijan and hailed the fact that the same attitude was shown towards his country in Albania too. He noted the significance of strengthening partnership and using the existing potential to the maximum extent.

Ambassador Genti Gazheli conveyed greetings and best wishes of President of Albania Bujar Nishani and Prime Minister Edi Rama to the head of state and the people of Azerbaijan. The Ambassador underlined the importance of Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline to his country. Hailing the exceptional nature of diplomatic ties, Ambassador Genti Gazheli said that he will remain committed and spare no efforts to expanding Azerbaijan-Albania economic relations.

The head of state thanked for the greetings of President Bujar Nishani and Prime Minister Edi Rama and asked the Ambassador to extend his greetings to the Albanian head of state and Premier.
