First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva presented medals to Azerbaijani champions

Azerbaijani female wrestlers have finished first in the overall medal table of the Baku 2017 4th Islamic Solidarity Games with four golds, three silvers and a bronze medal.

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chair of the Baku 2017 4th Islamic Solidarity Games Organising Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and her family members watched the bouts of Azerbaijani wrestlers.

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chair of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games Organising Committee, President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Mehriban Aliyeva presented the medals to the winners in the 48kg and 69kg weight categories.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played and the flag was raised in honor of the Azerbaijani champions.

Mariya Stadnik (48kg) grabbed a gold medal after beating Turkish Evin Demirhan in the final. Algerian Kheira Chaimaa Yahiaoui took bronze.

Leyla Gurbanova claimed gold in the 53kg weight category. Turkish Burcu Kebic ranked second, while Kazakh Aigul Nuralim scooped bronze.

Tetiana Omelchenko earned Azerbaijan a gold medal as she climbed on to the highest platform of the winner`s rostrum in the 60kg division. Turkish Gamze Nur Adakan won silver, Cameroonian Joseph Emilienne Essombe Tiako secured bronze.

Elis Manolova defeated Kazakh Zhamila Bakbergenova to claim gold in the women`s 69kg weight class. Bangladeshi Sherin Sultana and Turkish Buse Tosun captured bronze medals.

Natalya Sinishin took a silver medal in the 55kg division. Nigerian Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroye became the champion, while Turkish Bediha Gun finished third.

Alyona Kolesnik clinched the 58kg silver after losing to Kyrgyz Aisuluu Tynybekova in the final. Turkish Derya Bayhan scooped bronze.

Sabira Aliyeva (75kg) sealed Azerbaijan`s third silver medal at the Islamic Games. Turkish Yasemin Adar became the winner of the competition, while Kyrgyz Aiperi Medet Kyzy grabbed bronze.

In the 63kg weight category, Elmira Gambarova became a bronze medallist after beating Cameroonian Berthe Emilienne Etane Ngolle. Nigerian Blessing Oborududu claimed the title, Hafize Sahin earned silver for Turkey, and Zarina Kunangarayeva bagged another bronze for Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan won 12 golds, six silvers and five bronzes in wrestling at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. Greco-Roman wrestlers took four gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Freestyle wrestlers captured four golds, two silvers and one bronze medal. Female wrestlers scooped four golds, three silvers and a bronze medal.
