Ilham Aliyev reviewed the village of the 27th World University Games due in Kazan in 2013

President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, has reviewed the village of the 27th World University Games due in Kazan in 2013.

President Ilham Aliyev was unformed that the decision to award the 27th World University Games to Kazan was made by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in 2008. Kazan’s candidacy was rivaled by Vigo, Spain, and Gwangju, South Korea.

During familiarization with the University Games village, the head of state was informed that its construction began in 2008. Twenty-five sports facilities have been built here over the course of three years and a total of 64 are to be built. All facilities are fitted with web cameras. This will enable viewers to watch all competitions at the same time.
President Ilham Aliyev examined the conditions in the rooms and reviewed the medical aid station. It was indicated that student sportsmen from across the globe would compete for over 300 medals in the 27th University Games – a record figure in the entire history of University Games.

While at the video hall, the head of state watched a presentation about the sports program of the University Games.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev left a note in the Guests of Honor Book of the World University Games.

In conclusion, the head of state was presented with a book about the history of the University Games village.
