From Hiroshi Khara, Nagareyama, Japan

Dear Mr. President, Your Excellence Ilham Aliyev!

With your permission, I am sending this letter directly to you. As a citizen of Japan, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan for their sincere support for those affected by Japan’s earthquake.

My daughter lives in the town of Sendai, which is located in the center of the territory hit by the devastating earthquake. Despite that, she, her husband and their five-month-old baby are alive and well. They are trying to get on top of these difficulties. On my own behalf and on behalf of all the people of Japan, I would like to thank the people of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Azerbaijan very much.

The people of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Azerbaijan,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much! (in Azeri) Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, I had little information about Azerbaijan before this calamity. Prior to writing this letter I tried to find out about Azerbaijan through the Internet. I have reached the conclusion that Azerbaijan is a beautiful country. You have a great international heritage: the Old City with its Palace of Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, the Gobustan State Historical and Art Reserve. These are very nice places. You also have very melodic music. I have obtained information about some dishes of your cuisine.

As a citizen of Japan, I feel very sorry because of the threat being posed to mankind by the damaged nuclear reactor. I do hope that we can cope with the difficulties in the near future.

Mr. President, I would like to express appreciation and respect for you, your government and the people of Azerbaijan.

With best wishes,

Hiroshi Khara,
Chiba prefecture, Nagareyama, Japan.
