To the President of the United States of America, H. E. Mr. Barack Obama

03 July 2011, 14:00

Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own, I would like heartily congratulate you and through you all the American people on the national holiday of the United States of America – the Independence Day.

The present level of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States is causing contentment. Our cooperation has been on an upward trend both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations. The scope of its coverage is gradually expanding.

We are determined to permanently contribute to our partnership in the strategically important energy security sector and in the fight against terror. I am sure that we will consistently continue our cooperation in implementing large-scale economic projects and moving towards a democratic and law-governed state.

The interest of the United States in establishing peace and stability in our region is very important to us. We have great hopes that the efforts you, Mr. President, and your country as a co-chair in the OSCE Minsk Group are taking towards reaching a fair settlement to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh in accordance with international law will soon yield fruit.

The conflict has led to the breach of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, occupation of our lands and deportation of our fellow countrymen from their native homes.

On this remarkable day I would like to wish you, Mr. President, good health and success in your work, and peace and prosperity to the American people.
