Ilham Aliyev attended the foundation-laying ceremony of the Baku Health Center

A foundation-laying ceremony of the Baku Health Center has been held.

The ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva.

The head of state reviewed the draft of the Baku Health Center and the images of its future appearance

Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informed President Ilham Aliyev of the health facility under construction. He said the Baku Health Center, being built in accordance with a presidential resolution from 6 August 2010, will have two buildings. The total area under construction is 45,000 square meters. A total of 5 million manats has been allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund for the design and construction operations. This modern health facility will have a reception, a waiting area and a registration office, the central sterilization unit, the blood bank and laboratories. Laboratories will conduct clinical hematological, biochemical, immunological and clinical microbiological analyses. There will also be a conference room for various activities at the center. The six-storey building will have consultation offices, departments of roentgen and functional diagnostics, endocrinology, therapeutic, rehabilitation departments, a department of reconstructive medicine and others. Surgical operations will be performed in this building too. The surgical department is designed for 123 beds, while the intensive care department for 30.

The 12-storey maternity section of the Baku Health Center will also be in line with modern standards. The gynecological department is designed for 50 beds and the department of physiological delivery for 105. The Baku Health Center, built on an area of 1.4 hectares where the Baku City Oncology Dispensary used to be located, will apply the latest equipment and the most advanced technological and scientific achievements. This center will be one of the biggest health facilities of the capital.

Meeting with construction workers, President Ilham Aliyev wished them success and said:

Make sure that construction is carried out well, that it is of good quality and nice. It looks nice on the pictures, and it should look nice in reality too. Both the appearance must be good and, of course, the whole technological process should be followed. We should try to commission the center in two and a half years. Thank you.
