I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University today marks its landmark anniversary. The oldest medical university is 260 years old. It is fully justifying its motto, which is Primus inter pares. A unique environment of academism and innovation, creative search and responsibility allowed Sechenov University to grow into the largest scientific, cultural and spiritual center. Its professors and teachers have always been known for their great erudition, intelligence and, most importantly, their love for and dedication to their humane profession.

The “First Medical” university`s reputation and glory have long been recognized beyond Russia. Genuine science is international in its essence, and its development is inseparable from international scientific and educational cooperation. Sechenov University enjoys a broad geography of international relations. A branch of First Moscow State Medical University was opened and is successfully carrying out educational, treatment and scientific activity in Baku. It is another eloquent evidence of the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. Our countries have preserved and strengthened scientific and humanitarian cooperation, a common educational and cultural space.

The anniversary of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is a brilliant and landmark event not only for Russia, but also for the whole world’s medical and scientific community, and, of course, for all those whose biography is connected to Sechenov University.

I am proud to be a graduate of this prestigious university, and thank my teachers both for the knowledge I gained and for the invaluable school of mercy and goodness.
