Touring the culture and recreation park in which the museum is located, the head of state was informed that favorable conditions for people’s recreation had been established there.
President Ilham Aliyev cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the museum.
It was indicated that the museum displays up to 60 carpets representing mainly the country’s northern carpet-weaving school. The “Carpet portrait of Heydar Aliyev” by renowned carpet artist Kamil Aliyev holds a special place among museum exhibits. The exposition shows that Azerbaijan’s carpet-weaving art is undergoing a period of development. The development of this sphere, which is considered a national asset of the Azerbaijani people, has been possible thanks to the measures taken in the country, in particular the attention paid to this ancient craft. Our carpets are further enriched by the projects carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the biggest benefactor of Azerbaijani culture. The efforts to develop this craft further enhance the national and global value of our carpets. The attention and care the Azerbaijani state is paying to this profession, which reflects the history and culture of our people, have attracted the attention of the world to Azerbaijani carpets.
Then President Ilham Aliyev examined the activities of the children and youth library located in the building of the carpet museum.
It was mentioned that photos documenting nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev’s meetings with artists, poets and writers at different periods of his leadership in the republic are displayed in the library. Besides, pictures of President Ilham Aliyev’s earlier visits to Khachmaz are also on display. It was noted that children and youths can enjoy excellent conditions at the library which covers an area of 1,200 square meters. The various books stored at the library are a valuable source of information about Azerbaijan and scientific and technological innovations around the world. The Internet connection of the library computers is of exceptional importance from the standpoint of using electronic literature. In addition, an exposition hall, a youth library and a book fund are available. The fund has a collection of 29,000 books. The library also has a reading room, a conference hall and a room of fairy tales for kids.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out at the carpet museum and the children and youth library.
