Ilham Aliyev watched the exciting final match between London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea

Chelsea have won the Europa League final which was held at Baku Olympic Stadium on May 29.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, first lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched the exciting final match between London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi officiated the final match between Arsenal and Chelsea.

British DJ, composer and remixer Jonas Blue performed at the spectacular opening ceremony. He came on stage with 150 local dancers.

Following the opening ceremony, the UEFA Europa League Trophy was brought to the arena. The players then entered the stadium.

The Blues defeated Arsenal 4-1 in Baku thanks to a brace from Eden Hazard and goals from Olivier Giroud and Pedro.

The two sides played out a cagey first half before Giroud glanced home a fine header against his former club from Emerson's cross.

Pedro then swept home his side's second as Chelsea won the Europa League for a second time before Eden Hazard scored from the spot.

Alex Iwobi gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope but their optimism was short-lived as Hazard slotted home a fourth.

Following the final match, the awards ceremony was held.

On September 20, 2017, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to hold the 2019 UEFA Europa League Final on May 29 at Baku Olympic Stadium.

The Hall of Fame, a UEFA Europa League museum was set up in Baku between December 22 and January 7 as part of preparations for the final game.

The UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour began on March 5-9 in Geneva, Switzerland, and then visited on March 22-23 Seville, Spain and on March 29-30 Berlin, Germany.

The cup was presented in London on April 5-6, in Milan on April 12, in Moscow on April 20, in Paris on May 10 and in Ganja on May 19, in Jojug Marjanli on May 21, and then was brought to Baku.

"Baku 2019: Stars Final" was also organized as part of the series of events on Baku’s hosting 2018-2019 UEFA Europa League final match.

"Baku 2019: Stars Final" featured a match between the “Western Stars” and “Eastern Stars” teams.

Famous football players Jerzy Dudek, Michael Essien, Anderson Luis de Souza (Deco), Hamit Altintop, Nihat Kahveci, Andrey Arshavin, Revaz Arveladze, as well as Azerbaijani veteran football players Nazim Suleymanov, ambassador of the 2019 UEFA Europa League Final held in Baku Vali Gasimov participated in the match.
