Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a chess school in Ujar

As part of a visit to Ujar District, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a chess school.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the school.

It was indicated that the total area of the educational institution, built in the shape of a chess composition, is 820 square meters. There is a green area and a modern lighting system around the school. The one-storey school has five classrooms, a computer room and ancillary facilities. The area of the playing hall is 210 square meters.

The President of Azerbaijan was informed that this modern building, constructed at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is reminiscent of chess pieces. The entrance to the building is shaped like pawns, the external side looks like a rook, while the central part is shaped like the king. Classrooms are fitted with the necessary equipment for teaching secrets of the game of chess. There is also a separate computer room.

It was indicated that the playing hall of the chess school, equipped with a modern ventilation system, has a photo section reflecting the attention and care of great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to chess and chess players. A total of 140 students can play chess in the hall at the same time. There is a special monitor to observe games here.

It was mentioned that chess players from Ujar are contributing to the development of Azerbaijani chess. The new school will enable Ujar chess players to gain further successes.

The President met with the European champion Khatin Bagirova who is from Ujar. Bagirova showed the highest score in the world chess championship for 14-year-olds held in Poland in April this year to become world champion.
