President Ilham Aliyev has received the Commander of the United States Transportation Command, William Fraser.

The Commander of the United States Transportation Command, William Fraser, said he was paying his first visit since being appointed to the post to Azerbaijan. Indicating that 12 December was a special day for the people of Azerbaijan, William Fraser said he would visit the Alley of Honor to pay his respects to the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev. Touching upon Azerbaijan’s activities in the fight against international terrorism, William Fraser gave a high assessment to Azerbaijan’s contribution to the transportation supply of the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.

President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the importance of the visit by the Commander of the United States Transportation Command, William Fraser, to Azerbaijan from the standpoint of a further expansion of cooperation. Indicating that Azerbaijan had been part of the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan from its very first day, President Aliyev said humanitarian cooperation in relation to the mission was gradually expanding.

The sides also exchanged views on further expansion of joint Azerbaijani-US activities in the fight against international terrorism, security, energy and other spheres.
