President Ilham Aliyev has received a French parliamentary delegation led by the deputy chairman of the France-Caucasus friendship group, the head of the France-Azerbaijan working group, a member of the Centrists and Republicans Union political group of the Senate, Senator Nathalie Goulet. The delegation also included Senators Sylvie Goy-Chavent, Jean-Marie Bockel, Herve Maurey, Andre Reichardt and Jeanny Lorgeoux.

The President thanked Nathalie Goulet and other senators for their fair position in the Senate debate of a law that envisages criminal responsibility for the denial of the trumped-up "Armenian genocide". Describing this debate in the French Senate as an initiative distorting history, contradicting democracy and freedom of speech, and based on false and fraudulent information, President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that it would not be enacted.

Nathalie Goulet pointed out that she and the senators accompanying her on the visit would make every effort to improve relations with Azerbaijan and inform the Azerbaijani public in detail of this issue during meetings in Baku.
