President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mir Jan Jamali.

The President said that friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are developing successfully.

President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its continued support for our country in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and the Pakistani parliament’s recognition of the Khojaly tragedy as an act of genocide.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in all directions, including inter-parliamentary relations. Referring to economic cooperation, the President pointed to the need for intensifying the activities of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission. The President regarded Azerbaijan’s and Pakistan’s continued support for each other in international organizations as exemplary.

The Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mir Jan Jamali, recalled his first visit to Azerbaijan in 1993 and the important steps of great leader Heydar Aliyev towards strengthening Azerbaijan's statehood. He said he was witnessing profound development in Azerbaijan over the past period. Mir Jan Jamali said his country would continue to support the position of Azerbaijan in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. He noted the need for a further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various spheres, including economic and parliamentary relations.
