Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Sherzod Fayziyev.

Sherzod Fayziyev reviewed the guard of honor.

Ambassador Sherzod Fayziyev presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan had a discussion with the Ambassador.

Sherzod Fayziyev passed greetings on behalf of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to the President of Azerbaijan.

The President expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations between the two countries and said that these relations are sincere and friendly. President Aliyev said Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, countries that marked 20 years of their independence last year, had achieved great progress over the years. Recalling with satisfaction with his visits to Uzbekistan, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of good relations between the people and Presidents of the two countries. The President wished the Ambassador every success in his activities and expressed hope that the diplomat would contribute to a further strengthening of bilateral relations at a time when economic projects are to be implemented.

Stressing that the relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were at a high level, Ambassador Sherzod Fayziyev said that these relations, including those between the Presidents of the two countries, were quite sincere.

The President expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Islam Karimov and asked the Ambassador to communicate his best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan.
