Eastern and Western music will merge in a grand international festival set to take place in the Azerbaijani city of Gabala between July 25 and Aug. 5.

With the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, talented musicians from the United States, Russia, Great Britain, France and Italy will participate in the festival.

Following the tradition set the previous year, this year’s Galaba festival will create an opportunity for thousands of local music-lovers to get to know world-renowned artists, in addition to introducing Azerbaijani culture to foreign guests.
Among the world-renowned musicians invited to the international festival are Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky and Al Jarreau, as well as numerous young players. Master classes are planned for young musicians as a follow-up to last year’s classes.

The concert program of the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be introduced to the audience during the festival, along with a concert by the Hajibeyov Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra. The program includes timeless compositions by Hajibeyli, Qarayev, Amirov, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Mozart and Schubert.

Jazz lovers will enjoy the chance to hear a performance by jazzman Jarreau, a seven-time Grammy winner at the U.S. music awards.
