Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a children’s music school in Julfa

As part of a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a children’s music school in Julfa.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the school.

It was noted that six students of the school were enrolled at higher and secondary music schools in academic year 2010-2011. Two of them are currently enrolled at the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University and four at Nakhchivan Music College.

When reviewing the school, the President was informed that the four-storey music school has 52 classrooms and eight outbuildings. The school has a large library fund. It has a collection of 1,600 textbooks and musical literature. Training of 285 students is provided by 64 teachers. The school operates three sections – folk instruments, piano and theory. Classes are conducted on nine specializations – tar, kamancha, nagara, piano, violin, accordion, clarinet, balaban, and the art of khanende. The school is fitted with modern appliances and equipment, has 20 pianos and one grand piano.
