As part of a visit to Shaki, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a granary and a flour mill.

The executive director of the National Fund on Entrepreneurship Support, Shirzad Abdullayev, informed the President that in accordance with the state program on the socioeconomic development of districts for 2009-2013, a center for the procurement, storage and processing of grain products was built on an area of 3 hectares in the Goybulag village of Shaki District. The center, established in one of the largest grain-growing districts of the country, Shaki, includes a granary and a flour mill. The total project cost of the center is 4.5 million manats. The National Fund on Entrepreneurship Support of the Ministry of Economic Development has allocated a soft loan of 700,000 manats for the project.

President Ilham Aliyev watched a film about the process of the mill. The head of state was informed about the products manufactured by the enterprises of Karat Holding.

It was noted that they mainly produce rice, flour, pasta, buckwheat and other products.

The President of Azerbaijan commissioned the enterprise.

The head of state was informed about the soft loans provided by the National Fund on Entrepreneurship Support to the Shaki-Zagatala economic region. It was noted that so far the Fund has provided 1,239 entrepreneurs in the Shaki-Zagatala economic region with preferential loans worth 69.3 million manats, including 6.9 million manats for 950 small projects. These loans created about 7,800 jobs. In 2012 alone, 108 entrepreneurs in the Shaki-Zagatala economic region were provided with preferential loans worth 23.3 million manats, including 1.3 million manats for 101 small projects. These loans are expected to create more than 390 jobs. To date, the Fund has provided nearly 290 entrepreneurs in Shaki District with soft loans worth 15.3 million manats. These loans created more than 2,020 jobs.
It was noted that an analysis of this economic region has identified areas of possible future development. These include the creation of livestock and poultry farms, enterprises processing fruits and vegetables, large granaries, tea- and wine-growing farms, bakeries.

It was noted that the implementation of project on the construction of the granary and flour mill began in late 2010 and was completed in August 2012.

It was mentioned that the granary of 14,000 tons was built using foreign technologies. It consists of four silo each with a capacity of 3.5 tons. Based on modern technologies, it enables a long and loss-free storage of grain produced by farmers of Shaki and neighboring districts. The process of receiving, cleaning and drying of grain is also carried out here. The project will give an impetus to the development of grain-growing in the country and also help provide the population with quality wheat throughout the year.

The flour mill, which is part of the complex, is also fitted with modern foreign equipment. The daily production capacity of the mill is 220 tons. It produces and packages high quality flour. The project employs 170 people.

The head of state expressed his satisfaction with the work done at the complex.
