President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a Chess School in Saatli.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Chess School.

It was mentioned that important measures are taken in Azerbaijan to create the sports infrastructure. Along with other sports, special care and attention are shown to the development of chess in the country, as new modern chess schools are built in the capital and beyond.

One of these is the chess school built in Saatli District. The school has a modern architectural style, while the fence surrounding it depicts chess pieces. The courtyard of the school has been landscaped, trees planted, modern lighting and benches installed.

It was indicated that the chess school was built using the funds allocated under the Order of the President of Azerbaijan from 11 May 2011 in order to accelerate the socioeconomic development of Saatli District. The construction of the chess school in a park named after great leader Heydar Aliyev was launched in September last year. The total floor area of the two-storey building is 521 square meters. In the lobby on the first floor, there is a photo stand reflecting the meetings of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev with the sports community and residents of Saatli. There are also two classrooms, a principal's office, a conference room, and a cloakroom here. On the second floor of the building there is a competition hall, teachers’ and referee rooms. The competition hall can accommodate 50 players at a time. Using the sensor monitors installed here people can watch international competitions and study various educational aids.

The President praised the work done and gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
