Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials from the newly-appointed Ambassador of Afghanistan to Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials from the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and

Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan, Mohammad Shaker Kargar. 

The Ambassador reviewed the guard of honor.

Ambassador Mohammad Shaker Kargar presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then the President had a discussion with the Ambassador.

Stressing that the two peoples share historical ties, the President noted the need to raise them to a new level. Referring to the participation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the Baku summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation, President Aliyev said the visit was significant in terms of the discussion of new areas of the successfully developing bilateral relations. The President noted that Azerbaijan would continue to support Afghanistan in issues related to the strengthening of stability and security.

Ambassador Mohammad Shaker Kargar conveyed greetings on behalf of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, to the President of Azerbaijan. Mohammad Shaker Kargar said the people and government of Afghanistan have always supported Azerbaijan's position on all issues, including the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The President expressed his appreciation for the Afghanistan’s support of Azerbaijan in various international organizations.

President Ilham Aliyev also expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Hamid Karzai and asked the diplomat to communicate his greetings to the head of the Afghan state.
