President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Thomas O. Melia.

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Thomas O. Melia, introduced members of the delegation to the President of Azerbaijan. Saying that the delegation was starting its visit to the region with Azerbaijan, he said the main purpose of the visit was to exchange views on the definition of new partnerships with countries of the region.

The deputy administrator for European and Eurasian Affairs of the US Agency for International Development, Alexandra Pace, said that various social and humanitarian projects her organization implements in Azerbaijan would be continued.

The President stressed that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States were developing successfully in various fields. President Aliyev noted that there was room for a further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all areas, including political, economic, security, etc. The President expressed hope that the visit by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Thomas O. Melia, to Azerbaijan would serve further development of relations.
