President Ilham Aliyev has received heads of delegations of foreign countries attending the Fourth Congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan.
After welcoming heads of the delegations, the President described the participation of trade union representatives of foreign countries in the Fourth Congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan as an indicator of effective cooperation among relevant agencies of our countries. President Ilham Aliyev stressed that the relations between Azerbaijan and the countries represented by the visiting delegations were rapidly developing in all areas, including political, economic and humanitarian spheres. Giving a positive assessment to the role of the trade union movement in the strengthening of statehood and the protection of labor rights, the head of state noted the importance of establishing strong links among trade unions which unite millions of people. Touching upon the economic development in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev said that important steps had been taken in recent years to create new jobs and eliminate unemployment in the country. The activities of trade unions have further expanded.
The Deputy Secretary General of the General Confederation of Trade Unions of the Russian Federation, Valeriy Yuriyev, stressed that the Congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan was organized at a high level and expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the attention being paid to the trade union movement in the country.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Leonid Kozik, conveyed greetings on behalf of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the best wishes of the Belarusian people to President Ilham Aliyev. He said that President Lukashenko very much appreciated the friendly relations between the two countries. Leonid Kozik respectfully recalled his meetings with nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. Noting that the process of rapid economic development observed in Azerbaijan in recent years had made a deep impression on him, the guest expressed his gratitude to the head of state for supporting the trade union movement.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Alexander Lukashenko and asked Mr. Kozik to communicate his greetings to the President of Belarus.
Recalling with satisfaction the official visit of President Alexander Lukashenko to Azerbaijan and his own official visit to Belarus, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of mutual high-level visits for the enhancement of friendly relations between the two countries.
The President of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, Oleg Budza, conveyed greetings on behalf of President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti to President Ilham Aliyev. He said that the regular congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan was organized at a high level. Noting that the creative work carried out in Azerbaijan produced a great impression on his delegation, Oleg Budza expressed his appreciation for a project being implemented in his country to build a sports complex named after Heydar Aliyev.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings of President Nicolae Timofti and asked Mr. Budza to communicate his greetings to the President of the Moldovan state.
The Chairperson of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, conveyed greetings on behalf of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to the President of Azerbaijan. She emphasized that thanks to the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, bilateral relations between the two countries were successfully developing in different directions. Noting the importance of the fact that more than 100 documents on the expansion of bilateral relations had been signed between the two countries under the leadership of the two Presidents to date, the guest emphasized the importance of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan and the organization she is leading.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Islam Karimov and asked Mrs. Narbayeva to communicate his greetings to the President of Uzbekistan.
Recalling with satisfaction the official visit of President Islam Karimov to Azerbaijan and his own official visit to Uzbekistan, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of these visits for the strengthening of bilateral relations.
Then the Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Sattar Mehbaliyev, presented President Ilham Aliyev with a badge on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan.
