Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new mosque in Gabala

President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a new mosque in the city of Gabala.

The President was informed that the construction of the mosque began in May 2010. The mosque has been built at the commission of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The designer of the mosque building is “Konstruktor” LLC, a contractor for "Gilan Inshaat" LLC. The construction area is 715 square meters and the height of the minaret is 25 meters.

During familiarization with the mosque, President Ilham Aliyev was informed that a total of 600 people, including 450 men and 150 women, can perform the prayer service at the mosque at the same time. The walls and pillars of the mosque are painted with suras from the Holy Koran and decorated with religious symbols using unique samples of the Azerbaijani calligraphic school and Oriental ornaments. In the courtyard of the religious temple there are two small fountains. There is also a room for the mosque akhunds, educational and ceremonial rooms, a library, ablution rooms for men and women, and ancillary structures. The courtyard of the mosque has been landscaped, ornamental trees planted and a modern lighting system installed.

President Ilham Aliyev was presented with the Holy Koran.

The head of state praised the conditions established at the mosque and gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
