Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Gabala dairy and livestock breeding complex

As part of a visit to Gabala, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the dairy and livestock breeding complex.
It was indicated that as part of the State Program on the socioeconomic development of districts new production sites are being put into operation in different regions of the country and consistent measures taken to improve the social conditions of the country’s rural population. One of such enterprises is the Gabala dairy and livestock breeding complex. The total value of the enterprise is 12.9 million manats. The project has been implemented using soft loans of the state. The National Fund on Entrepreneurship Support under the Ministry of Economic Development has allocated a soft loan of 3 million manats for the construction of the complex. The construction and equipping of the complex commenced in late 2011 and was completed in February this year.

During familiarization with the enterprise, the President was informed that the complex consists of a farm for milking cows, a feed farm, a fleet of vehicles and ancillary areas. The company is fitted with farm equipment manufactured by American company BouMatic, automatic feeding systems, "Parallel" milking equipment designed for simultaneous milking of 40 cows, a cooling system and other equipment. The company has imported 500 head of Holstein Friesian cattle, each capable of producing more than 25 liters of milk per day. At the present time, the number of milking cows has been increased to 660 head and these have already provided 150 head of offspring. In the future, the complex is expected to increase the number of milking cows to 1,000 head.

It was noted that the forecast is to receive 8,500 liters of milk from each cow every year, while daily milk yield of the farm should be around 15 tons. The produced milk is sent to the Gabala milk processing factory which produces dairy goods under the brand name of “Jalə”. The crop area available in Gabala District has enabled the creation of a feed farm for the complex. A regular sowing was conducted in compliance with all farming standards and has resulted in a high yield. Therefore, the company’s needs for feed are fully met.

It was indicated that the implementation of the project has provided employment to 95 people. In order to study advanced technologies and practices of advanced countries and learn the rules of feeding and breeding pedigree cattle and using the agricultural machinery, some employees of the complex have been sent into special courses in the Netherlands. Other employees are expected to attend courses and workshops in the future in order to enhance their experience.
The head of state gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
