Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan, Hardijs Baumanis.

The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.

Ambassador Hardijs Baumanis presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, the Azerbaijani President talked with the Ambassador.

The President noted that the two countries enjoyed close, sincere relations and that Latvia was well known in Azerbaijan. Expanding upon the bilateral relations, President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that these ties would further strengthen in the coming years. Talking about the recent visit of former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga to Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev also pleasantly recalled the meetings he had held with her during his previous visits and within the framework of international organizations.

Hardijs Baumanis said that former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga had been pleased with her recent trip to Azerbaijan and had left with great impressions. The ambassador said Latvia was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and stressed the role of high-level mutual visits by presidents in developing bilateral relations.
