As part of a visit to Sumgayit, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center.
First the President of Azerbaijan reviewed the park of Heydar Aliyev where the Center is located.
At the entrance to the park there is a photo stand describing different periods of the great leader’s life.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the park is one of the most popular and frequently visited recreation places for the local population. All conditions are available for a meaningful rest of both local residents and visitors. There are special attractions for kids as well. The comprehensive reconstruction, landscaping and vegetation work carried out in the park have transformed it into one of the most beautiful parts of Sumgayit.

It was indicated that the opening of the Center was above all an indication of great respect the people of Sumgayit have for the memory of the great leader. The new Center will also play an important role in studying and promoting the rich and diverse heritage of the great leader. The exhibits of the Center demonstrate again that Azerbaijan's progress from a period of stagnation towards current comprehensive development and its growing international authority are associated with the invaluable merits of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev to the motherland and the people.
The Center, which covers a total area of 1,040 square meters, also displays books and documents about the world famous politician. The photographs on display depict the great leader as a child, teenager and student, his tenure at the State Security Committee and visits to Sumgayit during his leadership of the republic. A separate photo stand is dedicated to visits of President Ilham Aliyev to Sumgayit.
The Center operates a conference room, an office, art and design studios, an electronic library, a virtual classroom and computer courses. The Center will play an important part in studying the heritage of Heydar Aliyev and raising the intellectual level of young people. In addition, the building of the Heydar Aliyev Center imparts further beauty to the city.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done at the Center.
