To the President of the United States of America, His Excellency Mr. Barack Obama

Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own, I congratulate you and through you all the people of your country on the national holiday of the United States of America – the Independence Day.

The relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States of America have a special meaning for us. The great progress these relations have experienced over the past period is very encouraging.

Today, Azerbaijan and the United States have the relations of strong friendship and close cooperation.

Our cooperation in the field of energy security has enhanced our relationship to the new level of strategic partnership. Our participation in the peacekeeping missions of the international community in the hottest parts of the world further strengthens this partnership.

We also have high hopes for the efforts the United States as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and you personally have made to achieve a just and peaceful solution of the most painful problem faced by our people, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, on the basis of international law.

Mr President, on such a momentous day I send you my wishes for good health and every success in your activities, and for eternal peace and prosperity to the friendly American people.

Sincerely,

Ilham Aliyev
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
