Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new secondary school building in the Bahmatli village of Zagatala District

As part of a visit to Zagatala District, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a new secondary school building in the Bahmatli village of Zagatala District.

The care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the development of education in our country further confirm that this important area is among priorities of the state policy. This process is not limited to the capital city and covers the regions as well. A large number of schools have been built and additional school buildings commissioned in the country in recent years. Significant work has been done to strengthen the material and technical infrastructure of schools. All secondary schools have computer classes connected to the Internet now.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been providing comprehensive support for the program of activities at state level. The main goal of the Foundation in the field of education is to build this sphere in Azerbaijan in accordance with the highest standards. Particularly noteworthy is the "New school for a renewing Azerbaijan" project being implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. This comprehensive program of the Foundation aims to address the problems directly affecting the level of education – construction of modern schools allowing the establishment of education at the level of modern requirements. One of the schools built with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the secondary school named after Aladdin Javadov in the village of Bahmatli in Zagatala District.

President of Azerbaijan was informed that the old school building had been knocked down because it was in a state of disrepair in the wake of a powerful earthquake in Zagatala on 7 May 2012. On 9 September of the same year, during a visit to Zagatala District, President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of a new school building. Construction work was completed in August of this year.

It was noted that the two- and three-storey school building is intended for 600 pupils. The total area of the building, which has a modern design, is 4,520 square meters. In the courtyard of the school there is a statue of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. The courtyard has been landscaped and expanded.

It was noted that 480 pupils are going to this school. The building is resistant to 9-point magnitude earthquake. There is a photo stand reflecting the care and attention of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva about education in the lobby of the school. The building has a modern ventilation system. Classrooms, laboratories and other facilities have all the necessary conditions.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the computer science classroom. It was noted that all computers are connected to the Internet. The school’s assembly hall can host various events. The laboratories are fitted with the equipment required for the application of theoretical knowledge to practice. Offices in the school also have comfortable conditions.

The school has a modern gym. The library has more than 3,000 textbooks. The area around the school has been landscaped and measures taken to ensure effective organization of leisure. The school has an outdoor soccer pitch, as well as volleyball and basketball courts.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work done and wished the staff every success.
