Ilham Aliyev reviewed the conditions created at a new building of secondary school No 1 named after Sabir in Sabirabad

As part of a visit to Sabirabad, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the conditions created at a new building of secondary school No 1 named after Sabir for 1,200 pupils, which is located in Heydar Aliyev Avenue.

The attention and care President Ilham Aliyev has been paying to the development of education in the country are a clear indication that this important area is a priority of the state policy. This process is not limited to the capital city and covers the regions as well. Over the past several years, an unprecedented number of schools have been built in the country. Many schools have received additional buildings. This period has seen important work on strengthening the material and technical infrastructure of schools. All secondary schools now have computer classrooms with Internet access. Full support for the ongoing state-level program is provided by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The comprehensive programs being implemented directly contribute to the improvement of the level of education. The large-scale construction of modern schools provides the opportunity to organize the educational process at the level of present-day requirements. One of such schools is secondary school No 1 named after Sabir.

On the first floor of the building, there are photo stands reflecting the activities of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to develop education in the country.

While touring the school, the head of state was informed that extensive building and landscaping work had been carried out to create the necessary conditions for quality education of students. The school building became unusable in the aftermath of rising groundwater in a natural disaster that occurred on the Rivers Kura and Araz in May 2010. The construction of the school commenced in May 2012. There is a statue of Mirza Alakbar Sabir in the courtyard of the school. The four-storey school for 1,200 pupils covers an area of 9,415 square meters and consists of 109 rooms, including 68 classrooms. There are two physics, two chemistry, two computer classrooms and one classroom on biology at the school. Located on the first floor are a modern gym, the office of the principal and classrooms, on the second there is a teachers' room, more classrooms and a canteen covering a total area of 140 square meters. On the third floor there is a meeting room for 280 people, classrooms and a teachers’ room. There are more teachers’ rooms and classrooms on the fourth floor. A playground 22 meters wide and 44 meters long has been built in the courtyard of the school.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done at the educational institution and gave relevant instructions.
