Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Shamkir

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has attended the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Shamkir.

The President visited the park created around the Heydar Aliyev Center. It was noted that the park covers a total area of 14 hectares. Seven modern fountains and open water channels 742 meters in length with 10 tunnel-type crossings over them have been built. There is also an artificial lake.

It was indicated that about 20,000 different species of ornamental trees and flowers had been planted in the landscaped park.

After reviewing the park, President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Center.

It was mentioned that the construction of the Center began in May 2012. The four-storey building of the Center has unconventional and modern design. In the lobby of the building there is a statue to nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev. A monitor mounted in the lobby displays videos about different moments of the great leader’s life and work, as well as information about the large-scale projects implemented by the brilliant leader.

The President of Azerbaijan was familiarized with the Center.

It was noted that the Centre has a gallery, a 3D cinema, a library, a bar, a translation room and a lecture hall. The library has books and electronic editions about nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev. Visitors of the Centre can also use the virtual room of the electronic library. On the second floor of the Center there is a museum where exhibits from the personal archive of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and photographs reflecting different periods of his life and work are displayed. There is also a large assembly hall here.

The President was informed that as elsewhere in the country, the people Shamkir always honor the memory of great leader Heydar Aliyev. The Heydar Aliyev Center built in the city is an example of deep respect for the memory of the nationwide leader. There are numerous photographs, books and documents reflecting Azerbaijan’s enhancing international authority, prevention of civil war in the country in the early years of independence as a result of a thought-out policy of this ingenious person, the revitalization of the economy from a severe crisis, the path of development and the efforts to build a strong army.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done at the center and gave further recommendations and instructions.
