Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Azerbaijan, Shusuke Watanabe.

The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.

The diplomat presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, President of Azerbaijan conversed with the ambassador. 

Ambassador Shusuke Watanabe conveyed Japanese Emperor, His Majesty Akihito`s greetings to the Azerbaijani President. The Ambassador noted that during his meeting with His Majesty Akihito, the Emperor expressed willingness to develop ties between the two nations. Ambassador Shusuke Watanabe pointed out that Azerbaijan was rich not only with energy resources but also with human capital.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed assurance that Azerbaijan-Japan relationship would successfully develop during the ambassador`s tenure and noted the great history of relations between the two countries. Highlighting the active cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan in various fields, President Ilham Aliyev said these ties had yielded good results. Having expressed hope in expansion of economic ties, the President highly praised the cooperation with Japanese companies. Adding that political relations were also on a good level, President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that these ties would continue to develop successfully.

The President expressed his gratitude for the greetings of Japanese Emperor, His Majesty Akihito, and asked the Ambassador to convey his greetings to the Emperor as well.
