The opening of a plant for the production of steel pipes of the “Azertechnoline” Limited Liability Company has been held on the territory of the Sumgayit chemical industry park.

The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Very important projects on directing the oil revenue into the development of the non-oil sector have been consistently implemented in Azerbaijan lately. The establishment of technology parks according to presidential decrees and the commissioning of modern production sites in these industrial parks have opened up broad opportunities for strengthening the country's economy and producing competitive and high quality products. From this point of view, the plant for the production of steel pipes of the "Azertehnoline" Limited Liability Company, the first investor in the Sumgayit chemical industry park, represents particular importance. The commissioning of such state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities will further accelerate the industrial development of the country.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the layout of the territory. It was noted that in addition to the plant for the production of steel pipes, factories manufacturing mechanical and hydro-technical equipment would be commissioned in the park in the near future.

The President was informed about the technical and economic parameters of the plant for the production of steel pipes.

It was indicated that the plant would produce steel pipes of different diameters. According to the project, the plant, based on Turkish, German, Italian and Chinese technology, will produce 100,000 tons of steel pipes annually. The steel pipes will be used in oil, gas and water pipelines, in refineries, networks of industrial pipelines, and fabrication of steel structures.

President Ilham Aliyev has provided with extensive information about the technical parameters of the plants manufacturing mechanical and hydro-technical equipment and their future products.

The head of state commission the plant.

Then President Ilham Aliyev was familiarized with the production process. At the initial stage, the purchased 30-ton rolls will be fed into a spiral welding machine in a fully automatic mode, which they will be opened, flattened and sent into convolution. At the end of the welding process, the pipes will be subjected to special examination. At the next stage, the pipes will be subjected to hydro-testing.

To provide quality assurance of products, the plant will also operate an X-ray machine. Then the pipes will be sent for cleaning and painting to clean them from surface rust and dirt.

The diameter of the pipes to be produced at the plant will range from 400 to 2,000 mm, thickness from 6 to 25 mm and length from 6 to 16 meters according to the needs. The plant has two lines for the production of spiral pipes. They are expected to produce 75,000 tons of steel pipes of different diameters, 60,000 tons of hydro-technical equipment of various diameters resistant to high pressure and 12,000 tons of polyethylene pipes of different diameters every year. The enterprise covering an area of 27,000 square meters operates modern equipment manufactured in America, Germany and Turkey. The plant's products will enable high-level transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas and water.

It was noted that the plant would employ 500 people. The steel and plastic pipes to be produced here will be primarily supplied to the domestic market.

After these needs are completely met, there are plans to export the manufactured pipes abroad, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and other countries.
