President Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening of Samad Vurgun Poetry House in Gazakh region after its reconstruction.

The President first laid flowers at the monument to People’s Poet Samad Vurgun in front of the Poetry House.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the area of the Poetry House had been extended and vegetation had been planted. It was noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev had always attached great importance to literary activities of Samad Vurgun and the works of the poet had never been left out of his attention. He had always admired Samad Vurgun’s “Azerbaijan” poem and would refer to it when relevant. In 1976, on the 70th anniversary of the poet, Samad Vurgun Poetry House in Gazakh was built with the initiative of Heydar Aliyev and he personally attended its opening ceremony in September 1979.

President Ilham Aliyev visited the Poetry House in 2004 during his visit to Gazakh region and gave instructions on full renovation and restoration of the House. In 2005, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on celebration of the 100th anniversary of Samad Vurgun.

As a result of the works, carried out in recent years, the Poetry House has transformed. The number of exhibits has increased and new ones were added. The House Museum of Samad Vurgun in Baku has donated the poet’s T-shirt, his hunting and writing instruments to the Poetry House. In other words, the Poetry House will always be an address of reverence for the memory of Samad Vurgun and will become a permanent meeting place for the lovers of word-art masters.

President Ilham Aliyev viewed the photos, depicting the various periods of People’s Poet Samad Vurgun’s lifetime and activities and the attention and care of national leader to Azerbaijani literature. He congratulated the staff of the Poetry House with the opening and wished them success.
