First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva met with Iranian Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has met with Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar.

First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva said she is happy to see the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan, adding that the relations between the two countries have historically been based on friendship and fbrotherhood. She said these relations cover many areas, including political and cultural ones. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva noted that the meetings held between the Azerbaijani and Iranian heads of state contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two countries. “Over the recent years Azerbaijan and Iran have been implementing joint projects essential for both the two countries and the region.” The First Vice-President especially noted the relations in transport area. She said a project on Rasht-Astara railway that will be signed today between the two countries as part of the visit of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to Baku will benefit both Azerbaijan and Iran.

Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar said she is happy to visit Azerbaijan. She said the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran strengthen in all the areas and contribute to the welfare of the peoples of both countries. The Iranian Vice-President spoke of the economic relations between the two countries, stressing transport projects. She underlined the importance of enhancing relations in the cultural area. Masoumeh Ebtekar also hailed the expansion of relations in the field of women and family affairs. The Iranian Vice-President lauded the success of public and social projects carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.
