President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received President of the Union Cycliste Internationale David Lappartient.
President of the Union Cycliste Internationale David Lappartient said he was pleased to arrive in Azerbaijan to attend the UCI BMX World Championships. Describing the UCI BMX World Championships as a significant international sporting tournament, David Lappartient noted that the event features more than 1500 cyclists from 43 countries. President of the Union Cycliste Internationale David Lappartient hailed the fact that Azerbaijan is successfully hosting the international sporting events, and recalled the excellent organization of the opening ceremony of the first European Games in Baku, as well as his participation in the ceremony.
President Ilham Aliyev underlined the importance of the Baku-hosted UCI BMX World Championships. He thanked President of the Union Cycliste Internationale David Lappartient for supporting the development of cycling sport in Azerbaijan.
The President noted that Azerbaijan’s hosting the UCI BMX World Championships boosts interest in cycling and in general promotes the development of sport in the country.
The rapid development of sport, creation of the state-of-the-art infrastructure in various sports in Azerbaijan was hailed during the conversation. The contribution made by the Azerbaijan-hosted major sporting events to the expansion of international cooperation in the field of sports was also underlined.
