Ilham Aliyev met with Microsoft vice president

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Microsoft Vice President, President for Europe, Middle East and Africa Michel van der Bel in Davos.

Michel van der Bel emphasized that Microsoft, the world’s leading technological company, will continue supporting the projects implemented in Azerbaijan. He noted that the development of global economy and social life has brought the artificial intelligence issues to the fore. “Artificial intelligence will replace many professions in the coming decades.” Michel van der Bel stressed the importance for governments and states to be prepared for the era of artificial intelligence. He pointed out that government representatives, academia and business organizations should combine efforts, and specialists to be involved in AI-based jobs and necessary environment should be prepared through the implementation of programs and other projects needed for transformation to the artificial intelligence era. All this is possible thanks to the development of information technologies.

President Ilham Aliyev highlighted reforms as well as support for the development of information technologies and the expansion of public services in Azerbaijan. The head of state noted that the application of information technologies is expanding in state programs and in all spheres of economic and social life in Azerbaijan. “The application of information technologies is accompanied by the creation of new jobs which is of crucial importance to Azerbaijan. The government of Azerbaijan is also taking appropriate measures to prepare for the artificial intelligence era.”

It was underlined that Microsoft’s representatives in Azerbaijan and relevant authorities and business circles should discuss these issues, and develop joint projects.

It was noted that both sides will support the development of such projects.
