The “Small Venice” has been reopened at the National Seaside Park after reconstruction.

President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony.

It was indicated that the “Small Venice”, fully renovated as part of the landscaping work at the National Seaside Park, is one of the most beautiful sections of the boulevard. Established in the 1960s, the area was a favorite spot for visitors of the National Seaside Park. In March last year, during a visit to the boulevard, President Ilham Aliyev issued the order on the reconstruction of the “Small Venice”.

According to the President’s instructions, the area was rebuilt in line with modern requirements. The “Small Venice” has been enriched with new elements, while its previous appearance has been maintained. The canals have been expanded, deepened and connected to the water passages, and new boats have been brought.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the “Small Venice”.

It was indicated that the area has all the conditions for a meaningful rest. The area, decorated with national ornaments, has new bridges built over canals. A water reservoir and a water treatment station have been set up. The treatment plant will ensure that the water is always clean and transparent.

The catering facilities in the area will serve dishes of the western and oriental cuisine. The lighting system installed along the canals, on the bridges and in the tunnels will make the place even more beautiful at night.

Reminiscent of the real Venice, the “Small Venice” imparts special beauty to the capital.

After the overhaul, the “Small Venice” has become more modern, interesting and attractive. Its opening has been a great gift to the people of Azerbaijan on 28 May – the Republic Day.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev enquired about the work under way at the newly-built State Museum of Azerbaijani Carpets and Applied Art at the National Seaside Park.
