President Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico, Oscar Martín Arce Paniagua.

Indicating that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United Mexican States have been developing successfully in recent years, the President of Azerbaijan expressed his confidence that these relations would further expand in the future.

Noting the importance of inter-parliamentary relations to the strengthening of bilateral relations, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the significance of cooperation in this field. The President noted the need for seeking new economic opportunities for the development of trade relations. President Aliyev stressed the importance of the fact that the first Azerbaijani Embassy in Latin America was opened in Mexico. Noting the importance of mutual visits to the development of relations between the two countries, the President expressed his hope that the visit by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, Oscar Martin Arce Paniagua, would be fruitful.

The President praised the decision by the Senate of Mexico to recognize the Khojaly tragedy as an act of genocide and expressed his gratitude for that. President Aliyev said the chairman of the Mexico-Azerbaijan friendship group of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, Marcos Perez Esguer, was awarded with the “Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan” for his contribution to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the United Mexican States and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and presented the award to him.

The chairman of the Mexico-Azerbaijan friendship group of the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States, Marcos Perez Esguer, expressed his gratitude for the award.

The President of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico, Oscar Martín Arce Paniagua, said his country was attaching great importance to Azerbaijan as a fraternal country. His expressed an interest in developing the relations with Azerbaijan in all directions, including inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The sides pointed to good prospects for a further development of economic, cultural, educational and inter-parliamentary contacts between the two countries.
